FREEDOM OF SPEECH

In think freedom of speech is not what it should be. The censorship is everyday in our life and sometimes we don’t realize. That’s really sad. Is normal to be in a country that, in one way or another, is censuring us because we think, to do, to make, to wear, to manifest…? Nowadays, if you print something, if you wear some color, if you are going somewhere, you can go to jail. So, freedom of speech? I don’t think so. Well, I know if there were an absolute freedom of speech, some people would take advantage of the situation and a lot of people would be affected. Maybe there would be problems. Anyway, I still think that we need more freedom of speech. I think the best way to deal with this delicate topic would be to leave people to do what they want to do. But, always with respect. “With respect and without threats” should be the slogan of freedom of speech. This is just my opinion and I know I can’t change the world. It is only an opinion that shouldn’t be censured. Maybe I don’t think like you. So, this is freedom of speech.

Biography

Josephine Cobie Smulders is a famous singer. She was born in 1892 in London. She went to BRICTT School. Her first job was being a waitress (an ordinary job). She was married ten years ago with Gerard Shown and they have 3 children. She becomes famous in a TV programme in Spain. She won! She recieves lots of awards like Grammy, MTV music awards... She will be in Madison Square Garden  this year. I will go to see her. I love her talent.

THE MARTIAN

In my opinion, this is a very good movie that everyone should see. I know this could be a typical opinion of this movie but I’m gonna explain why I think so.

At the beginning of the film, it introduces us a very strange situation those who aren’t astronauts: the situation is a storm. But it isn’t a normal storm, is a very strong storm in Mart. So, the first problem or dilemma: what should they do? Well, if the situation wouldn’t have been complicated, it would be easy: approach the mission. But, one of the astronauts stayed behind, he flew to the nothing. They have to leave him.

Well, Mark, this astronaut, is still alive. He is in unknown situation that neither he nor nobody have ever lived. So, what does he have to do now? His colleagues have left him, he haven’t any connection with NASA, he is completely alone and he has to survive.

So, one good thing to see this spectacular movie is for these situations: what would you do if you were in them? I think this movie is worth it for the situations that arise. These make you think about life and they make you re-think or reconsider important things.

An important message that offers us is never give up! Because if somebody in some time of this film has lose it, Mark would never have returned to the Earth.

So, what are you waiting to see it?

Dear Editor,

I am writing in response to your article I came across in Tuesday’s Edition of your newspaper. I was disappointed to read this article “Travelling by train a thing of the past”. I am from a Travel train company and I am going to explain why I think this article do not says the truth.

Firstly, there is an obvious advantage of traveling by other methods of transport, like you say in the article, they are not travelling by train. But this does not verify that I share your opinion. When I am talking with other methods of transport, I am not discriminanting the train because I am still thinking it is a good method of transport. So, if you say it is only a thing of the past, that is not the truth.

Next, lots of people use train every day to go work or to study or something. Is a good transport that, if you live in a big city, it is good and you can use it often.

Finally, I know the use of this method is not like before. Before, to make a big trip, always had to use train. Now, I know, the train is not the most used but it doesn’t mean that it is not used at all. If it were only for the past, our company would be ruined. So, I therefore suggest you think carefully before printing such comments.

My trip to Italy!

MY TRIP TO ITALY

Hello everyone!

Two weeks ago, we went to Italy with the class and now I’m going to explain our trip to Italy.

FIRST DAY

Our trip started the Monday 5. We met at school at 3 am! Too early for us! And we went by bus to Barcelona. At 6.25 our plane was flying to Italy! We landed in Bergman. There, we took a bus to Bergman. We visit Bergman and we ate our first Italian pizza! It was delicious! To finish the day, we took another bus and we went to Verona.

SECOND DAY

The second day, we took a train at 8:21 am and we went to Venice. There, we visit Sant Marc’s square, the Campanile… At 4 pm we took the Vaporeto, fabulous views were seen! At the end, we returned to Verona.

THIRD DAY

Just start the third day, we took another train. This time, but, we went to Florence. We did a change of train in Bologna. We arrived so late to Florence. So, the third day we only visit the city.

FOURTH DAY

In the fourth day we stayed all the day in Florence. There, we visited Il Duomo, Ufizzi’s Gallery, The Florence Academy of Art… A very artistic day! I loved it!

FIFTH DAY

Our trip was finalizing. We are all really sad and tired. On this last day, we go by bus to Luca: a very beautiful little town. There, we had free time and we spend all the morning going shopping. We took another bus and we went to our last destination: Pisa. There we spend all the afternoon going shopping too! We went early to the airport. Our plane arrived in Barcelona at 00:15 am. Finally, we took the last bus to get home, sweet home.

This is the end of our fantastic trip!

A bad experience in a shop

Saturday 21th October 

Dear Sir/Madam,  

I am writing to complain about a bad experience in your shop. This happened last Monday, 16th of October in your shop in Banyoles. 

When we came to your shop we just wanted to buy a snack. We did not have more than 1€. So, we were looking for a bargain. We were absolutely brilliant because we found it! We just wanted to buy kites. This bid just cost 0,75€. This were the price that appeared in the advert. So: what is the problem? Then, here it comes: We had to do a long store queue, plenty of people, and we did not have time. But, the worst part is not. When we finally arrived to the cashier, the employee said that it cost 1,19€. Whaat?? The price advertised was 0,75! 

Furthermore, the employee was really bitter and not enough dedicated. Simply, we  want to refund the purchase. We were shocked. We were really tired and extremely sad because we had lost our free time with a rude person.  

Until now, I have always been really impressed with your company and associated your products with quality and good taste. I would be grateful if you could notify the woman of her misconduct. Certainly it would be good to check the price posters. And maybe also make a store queue for people who want to buy a single product. I look forward to receiving it in the very near future.

How are you? What have you been doing since we last met?

I've been getting involved in drama class. And I'm really happy!

I decide to go along to his because I love theatre. So, why not?

I’ve met lots of friends and I think it will be a good experience to make a personal improvement. I mean, I’ve read a lot of articles that say that “theatre makes an effort to make the most of you”.

Has that ever happened to you? I mean, have you ever been something enthusiastical?

Oral presentation about my last summer

Catalan referendum: what's happening?

What shocked me?

Sincerely, a lot of things surprised me: in a bad way and too in a good way. 

I didn't think really that the government could treat the people that way: old people, young children, teens, adults... All kinds of people suffered aggregation. There was no respect. Is this normal? 

The videos frighten me. And some made me rage and cry. I'm really defrauded, really, I can't belive it. It seems like we are in the past. Have we returned to the past?

Luckily, there are good things. Yesterday we have prove that we are people of peace and 
peaceful. We demonstrated united and moderation. And I'm really proud of that.



What I don't agree with is in the way in witch  "Guardia Civil" treated people and also the big manipulation of what really happened.  Only remember:

"A picture is worth a thousand words"

What is the summary sentence for me?

My last summer

Hi!

My name is Roser and I'm going to talk about my last summer. This summer has been a good and busy summer and it gone so fast!

First, I'm going to talk about my trip to Northern Spain and Portugal, then I'm going to explain my London trip and finally my ordinary summer days.


Let's go! The holidays began in June, and just the following week I did my first trip. I went to Northern Spain and Portugal with my family. I really like that place! Galicia, Santiago de Compostela, la Rioja, Oporto... looks like here! They are familiar places and really nice! The worst part of this adventure was the trip path. We went by car and it's 14 hours!!!


After that, July started. I really love July because it is my birthday! During this month, I've done another trip! In the second journey we travelled to London. I was really excited because I had never been there. London is a diferent and lovely place. I love it! I love the people, places, bars and travel by metro! There I learnt a lot of English!


Then, Agoust arrived. These were a few quiet days. I didn't make another trip. These days I met friends, I went to the beach in Palamós and Platja d'Aro and I reviewed a bit of Maths and French...


In conclusion, this vacations have been unexpected, fantastic and with a lot of nice surprises, travels and new friends!

So, this is my summer holidays,

For years ago, my friends and I went to this beach and we don’t agree with the new hotel because it will make the beach private.

We are organizing a demonstration in the street to protest. It is not fair. We sill be stubborn and we are going to use the Palamós central street to do the protest. We are now getting signatures and we don’t need any Money.

In order to publicize our campaign, we would e very grateful if your newspaper could write an article about the unfair situation. The demonstration is going to be this Saturday, 21 of May.

Shakespeare in love

"In the glory days of the Elizabeth theatre two playhouses were fighting it out for writers and audience..."

The movie was situated in the sixteen century in London, when Queen Elisabeth was in charge. William Shakespeare was one of the bests playwrights and at that time he was not inspired and with debt.

Shakespeare needed to make a script quickly but he had as a "blockade" and he couldn't write. When he finally writes he discovered that her love was began and he was worried but one actor surprised him. This actor, in fact is Viola de Lesseps, a woman who loves theatre and want to be an actress. Wiliam and Viola fall in love. Them, Shakespeare could write a good storie inspired by her.

Currently, we're in this part of the film and we don't know what will happen, This interesting movie was written by Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard. And directed by John Madden. Shakespeare is Joseph Fiennes and Viola is Gwyneth Paltrhow.

• Introduction

The aim of this report is to look at the effects that household appliances have had on our lives and our planet over the last fifty years My sources include facts and figures from several recent newspaper reports.

• The positive efects

In general, more than 70% of electronic gadgets can be recycled.. Today, recycling gadgets saves 33% of the enertgy needed to make new plastic. As a result, if plastic run at, we won't have this energy and this gadgets.

• The negative effects

Gerenally speaking, 17 milion small devices are thrown away in the UK every year. This means that more than 80 per cent of all electronic waste is not recycled.

• Conclusions

To sum up, this gadgets are making our life easier. so, we have to preserve them. Anyway, I would recommend that we have to recycle, reduce and protect the natural environiment.

Writing about school

Our school is a big and old fashioned secondary school. We can use our teachers' first name. We can wear the uniform only the days that we play sport: Tuesdays. We don't have a lot of rules. I think the most important is that we aren't allowed to use the mobile phone in the school.

We can choose some subjects to study like French or Theathre. We have to do compulsory subjects like Maths, Science, Catalan, Spanish or English. We have to study hard every day.

We divide our school year into 3 terms. We only have one timetable and it is the same every term. Devending on the day we start at a different time. On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday we start at 9 and finish at 5 o'clock. But on Wednesdays and Fridays we start at 8:30 and finish at 3. I prefer Wednesdays and Fridays because I can spend the time doing homework or other activities.

A birthday to remember

It was my birthday, so I invited some friends to my house.

It was a cold day. It had to be a calm day although it was not. When my friend Laia was arriving to my house a bird pooped on her head. Laia had her foot bandaged too. Poor! But that wasn’t all! We were playing around the pool when Joan, my friend Laura's brother, fell at the pool! He hadn’t extra clothes and we have to give some.

Fortunately, we had a more calm ending. We eat cake and we had a fantastic dinner. We never forgot that day!

A story that ended well

WRITING ABOUT A STORY THAT ENDED WELL

Last summer, when we stayed in Banyoles, the days of the festival (à)phònica, Oques Grasses, my favorite band, came to Banyoles! And of course we wanted to go. We created a group of “fans” that wanted to go there.

At the beginning everything was fine, we had to go with some friends. But suddenly people had plans: family dinners, rowing competitions, etc. And only  two persons!!! And go to a concert as well... We didn’t have much time so we had to think came in the end. So we invited some “no-fans” friends.

Finally, everything was great! With the “no-fans” and other fans we finally managed to go. So, we were very excited and it was the best concert that we ever went!

In recent years, many young people think that is worse go shopping with family than with friends. So, what are the advantages and disadvantages of this?

I think one advantage of family shopping is that you have more money for spend than if you’re alone. So, this is the second advantage, you aren’t alone! You can also have a different opinion and they give you advice. This is another good point.

However your family aren’t your friends and sometimes is boring for you go with them because you don’t have the same relation. Another disadvantage is if you go with family you have more possibilities to spend more money and this is not good for the familiar economy.

To conclude, I think is better go shopping with family but personally I prefer go with friends because I think that they opinion is more important than my family’s  because we have the same age.
